Tumor ablation
This is a minimally invasive process that helps to treat the condition of solid cancer. During the process, the radiologist burns, freezes, and uses chemical or laser processes to treat cancer without using any surgical procedures. The heat destroys the unwanted tumor cell immediately. Apart from this, the treatment may also involve Ultrasound, Computer Tomography, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging to position the needle into the unwanted cell.
Biliary Drainage
It can help cure the blocked bile ducts, including narrowing bile ducts, gallstones, and cancer in the duct. Biliary drainage involves the process where the radiologist inserts a tube in your bile duct and is carried to the place where there is a blockage. The main work of bile ducts is to make sure bile drains from the liver to the small intestine. But due to the blockage, it becomes unable to leave the body and starts building up. This buildup, if not cured, can cause dark urine or jaundice. The introduction of a drainage tube allows the bile to flow out.
Carotid Stenting
In carotid stenting, the radiologist inserts a thin, metal-mesh tube called a stent and expands it to reach your carotid artery. As a result of this process, the blood can flow smoothly in the area where there is buildup plaque. Carotid arteries are basically found inside the neck and extend from the aorta near your heart to the skull. Carotid stenting is necessary to perform in case the surgeons want to carry out angioplasty.
Vertebroplasty
It is an outpatient procedure that helps the radiologist stabilize the compression fractures present in the spine. During the process, the surgeon will inject bone cement into the vertebrae that have broken or cracked. It can be because of an injury or osteoporosis. When the cement hardens, it helps to stabilize the fractures and support the spine. It is an essential treatment for those with severe and deliberating pain. The process helps to release pain and increase mobility.
Nephrostomy
To allow the kidney to function correctly again and protect it from any other problem, the radiologist carries out a nephrostomy. It is an opening between the skin and the kidney. In the process, a thin tube made of plastic is passed from the skin to the kidney. It then passes to the point where the doctor can collect the urine. The process helps to collect the urine that has been causing problems or is blocked. Moreover, it also helps clear the infection. In order to perform the procedure correctly, the whole procedure is guided through X-ray and ultrasound.
Radiofrequency Ablation
It is a type of pain relief procedure and highly beneficial to those suffering from chronic pain in the lower back, neck region, and degenerate joints. In the process, the radiologist passes an electric current to form a radio wave. This process heats the small nerve tissue area decreasing pain in that specific area. This process will provide you relief for a period of 12 months, and in some cases, it lasts for a year.
Venous Access
It is a method that the radiologist uses to access the bloodstream through your veins. It is carried out to manage parenteral nutrition, carry out blood analysis, or access a point for blood-based treatment like apheresis or dialysis.
Angioplasty
Angioplasty is a method adopted by doctors to cure blockage in the coronary artery. In this disease, the arteries that carry oxygen-rich blood in your heart get blocked or narrowed down by a buildup material, plaque. To cure the condition, the radiologist threads a slender tube to the particular artery through a blood vessel in your arm. A balloon is attached to one end of the tube, and when the doctor inflates this balloon, it pushes the plaque and widens the artery. As a result, the blood flows again easily.
Image-guided Treatment For Treating Liver Tumor
In this process, the radiologist passes a needle into the liver where there is a tumor and creates an electric current that produces heat. As a result of this heat, all the unwanted cells get destroyed.
Uterine fibroid embolization
It is a minimally invasive procedure used by a radiologist to cure tumors in the patient’s uterus. As a result, all the other problems relating to it get cured, like pain, menstrual bleeding, bowel and bladder pressure. To guide the process, the doctors use real-time x-ray, fluoroscopy to flawlessly carry out an embolic agent’s delivery into the fibroids and uterus. These agents cause the arteries to block. As a result, they cannot carry blood to the fibroids, which causes them to shrink.
